Later, on the street, Ricci sees how tired his boy is. He looks at all the bikes lined up outside of a stadium. He thinks about stealing a bike. Finally, he makes his move. He steals a bike. But first he tells his boy to go to the streetcar. When the boy begins to leave, he goes over to steal the bike. But Bruno does not get on the streetcar. Someone sees him steal the bike and yells after him. Ricci tries to escape, but he is caught. Bruno sees him ride by and runs after the crowd. They catch Ricci and begin to beat him. Bruno squeezes through the crowd and stands by his father. The men lead Ricci back to the square. The boy follows. The owner of the bike, upon seeing Bruno, says let the man go. "You got off easy," a man says. The two walk away. The boy looks up at his father and sees him crying. He holds his father's hand. The two blend into the crowd on the street. (Forward to 6:53)
